MC for the event, Chen Xiaohui was volunteer - distributing flyers on
site, I also saw Chen Xiaohui, Sun Suxu registered as donor.
I must miss some of you due to the crowded people and
work, sorry. Thanks for your participation.

========================================
Jeff and John have done a superb job to ensure
this
event is a great success. The leaders from various
organizations is essential for the success of this
event and for future event as well.
Jian Yu, John Liu, Jeff Tang, and John Hu took the
action item to write up a recap of the event. There
are so much to capture, we can keep writing and
thanking the numerous people helped to make this event
a success (now I know why the Super Stars in Hollywood
keep staying in the stage and mumbling names to be
thanked during the Oscar Award Celemony :-). But we
know we will still not been able to thank all the
people enough, so please forgive us if we missed
anything...
Thanks again for your great effort to make this event
a success. And, please thank the members of your
organizations for their support.
--------------------------------------------------
A brief recap of the April 10th Event:
Highlights:
---------------------------------------------------
1) 327 people took the blood test in 5 hours, that's
55 second per donor according to Qi's estimation. 600
filed the forms, some people filled forms or expressed
interest in taking blood test but have to be referred
to future AADP events due to the long lines and short
hours.
2) There is no holding back in our support --- Several
people brought their whole family to line up for blood
test. Some pregnant women also took the blood test.
People came from all around the SF Bay Area to
register.
3) More than 40 volunteers showed up to help various
activities in the event. Jeff and John have done great
job in organizing the volunteer team. "I am glad to be
part of this great event, count me in next time" --
the words from one enthusiastic volunteer represents
the general feeling from most of the folks.
4) Li Zhijian and JING SHAN HU have done a superb job
as MCs (two thumbs up for Beijing Normal Univ for the
recomendations and for Beida for contributing its own
MC :-). Chen Yue also delivered a speech on
behalf of SF consulate.
5) Shen Jian (Yu Jian/Lu's brother in law) and Gao Li
(classmate)'s talks brought the audience closer to Yu
Jian. Shen Lu called in during the event to thank the
donors. Tears welled up in the eyes of the audience
when the chorus perform a song especially for Yu
Jian/Shen Lu. The spirit support is also the best
medicine for Yu Jian and great comfort to Shen Lu,
they know for sure to be able to count on a lot of
people in their fight against Leukima.
6) The chorus teams also did a great job in creating
an atmosphere for this event.
7) The event has reached out to a wide range of
people: besides Chinese from Mainland, a lot of
Chinese from Taiwan,
and people from other Asian
countries, took the blood test.
8) The more donors, the more chance to save Yu Jian,
the more awareness in Chinese community.
Follow Up Actions:
--------------------------------------------------
Now that we've completed a successful drive and bought
the awareness to the Bay Area communities, here are
a few things we should do moving forward to build on
our success.
1) As Zhao Haiying suggested, since quite a few people
did not register on 4/10 due to long lines, time
limitation and location, we should repeat the drive
with same theme else where. Please refer to
http://www.aadp.org/calendar.html for future drive
scheduled so far and broadcat to your organizations.
2) We've seen requests from some church to arrange
onsite drives -- Coordinate with AADP to make this
happen. Siu or Jeff will serve as the conatct.
3) Reach out to local Taiwanese societies.
4) Reach out to earlier immigrant Chinese, mainly in
San Francisco
area.
5) Focused activities -- It's great to bring community
awareness at the first event with large showcase, but
it's better use of resources to have focused events in
the future, including potential indoor events. SCEA
has also planned to marrow drive annuary together with
SEED program.
6) Future donor drive in China
to help Yu Jian's
chance of finding a match. Every organizations, please
help to support Jian through your network with China.
Acknowledgements:
We did it! 46 organizations joint in organizing the
event. Thanks for everyone's joint effort to make this
happen.
-------------------------------------------------
(Due to the vast efforts put in by everyone, we may
not have captured everything here. feel free to add on
to this as necessary).
