Saturday (7/19) was a big day!  Over 40 people participated.  The weather was perfect and many of us arrived on time at 8:30 (Jason Zeng and his wife was the earliest ones) for the openning ceremony, which consisted of a march around the track and the raising of the US flag.   I am proud to say that our flag was the largest and most noticable.  Our flag waver, Hu, Yun Feng drove all the way here with his wife from San Diego.  We all impressed by his enthusiasm and excellent display of our flag.

I must thank everyone for their positive atitude.  The competition was

behind schedule by more than 3 hours, yet no one complained, but rather was full of energy.  Our 16x100 team worked hard and practiced very seriously.  Although we did not win first place, we were first place in team spirit and togetherness!

Liu Feng , Teng Yun, Shi Xi-li, Wu Yu-Xiang, Wu You, Wu Lu,… all participated in the individual running / swimming events and did very well.  Teng Yun won our first gold medal in the 1500 meter race.  Wu you won a bronze in the 400 meter race. 

And most importantly, we had a great team and a wonderful time.

I'm so happy to have such enthusiastic members.  A large group of us ate

dinner at a nearby restaurant to celebrate the day.  We stayed there and

chatted until 10:30 PM before we reluctantly left for home.

By the way, Ge Yong Chao and Li Xiao Chin are leaving us for the east coast for their job.  Hu Yun Feng has finished his phD from UCLA and is now a post Doctorate at UC San Diego.  Let's congratulate them for their excellent achievments and wish them success!

To show our appreciation, we will have a small gift to each of our athlete (will distribute at next gathering) plus one free rental of VCD serias at his/ her choice.
