Dear
ALL,
The 2006 National Day and Moon Festival Celebration was a big success,
thanks to everyone's contributions!
I am excited to thank all performers and groups for your excellent
performance.
This year’s performance was held at the gym in Santa Clara Mission
College; the decoration
work was much harder, but we successfully "made"
a stage using the ground, thanks to all the valuable professional advise
from our artists and hard work from volunteers.
The on-stage program began at 2: 30 PM, following the General Consulate
Mr. Peng and the VIP’s speech. Over 80 talented performers representing
15 organizations performed 18 outstanding shows, including:
- the well known ballet piece from <White hair girl> was fantastic, the
original Da
Chun大春. Mr. Shi / Zhongqi and 喜儿 Xi-Er – Zhang / Jing
performed so
well that many older audiences were brought back to 30 – 40 years ago;
The audience was warmly touched, some even to tears;
- Mr. Xia’s professional Acrobatic – “Happy Chef" was breath taking and
entertaining for everyone;
- Popular Chinese instrument - Gu Zheng and the bamboo flute were played
so joyfully;
- Li/Yi & Ma/Chunxia’s 小品 was so funny that many of us couldn't stop
from laughing;
- Bayland, HongYe & the SV Chorus Dancing groups dressed in colorful
dresses and danced gracefully;
- Solo and duets singing were complemented by each singer’s special skills;
- Beijing Opera attracted more adults by performing with beautiful
dresses and clear voices;
- Shao Lin Gong-Fu by Shaolin monks was a big eye opener, impressing and
surprising everyone;
- Mini opera by UC Berkeley Students was especially exciting;
- Taiwan native singer Rose Wen’s song was so powerful, everyone stood
up and danced with her;
The show was such a success that during the performances, some of the
audiencse wanted to know when and where NEXT year's performance would be
held!
Many thanks to our wonderful MC Li/ZhiJian and Xiong/LiPing for making
the transitions smooth and flawless.
The off stage children's program attracted a lots of "little
friends".
The jump house was filled with kids all the time; the riddles were
challenging yet fun, and even the adults had a hard time; other fun games were
not easy to beat either .
Many thanks to our volunteers:
Wen/Feng (Beijing Normal Univ) for arranging the jump house and games,
Wang/Xing & Yang/Qing (Beijing Normal Univ) for set up and organizing
the riddle games.
Zhou/Meiling (United Youth Enrichment School 联合中文学校) and
Wonderland Chinese School for providing the riddles and games.
Special thanks to

performance.

supervisor.

boxes of great prizes for the riddle game: colorful T-shirt, art pieces, hat,
computer mouse
pad & etc, which made the riddle place a hot spot for adults and children.
Finally, thanks to
- Lin/Shengheng (林昇衡) for his non-stopping hard work for months to
make this event a big success!
- ALL of our back stage heroes who worked hard for months in order to
